Texas Is Red

Texas has gone Republican for President for three decades. This time wasn't any different. John McCain won the state.

The Texans that voted for Obama were the same demographics as in other states, African Americans, liberal voters, under 30 voters and those making $50,000 or less.

The Galveston Comeback

LoneStar Times has an amazing before and after picture of Galveston. It's stunning.

I was reading an AP story about Galveston rebuilding and got a bit of a history lesson. As most of you probably know, a catastrophic hurricane hit the island in 1900 and 6000 people perished in the storm. In 1915 another hit, but only less than a dozen died.

Compassion and Common Sense on Immigration Reform

From the Houston Chronicle:

In arguments rich in biblical allusion, church and social activists Monday took aim at the nation's immigration policies — laws they contended split families, criminalize undocumented workers and undercut America's reverential self-image as a land of opportunity.

Boerne Bank Robbery

Crime hit close to home in the Hill Country this morning - very close to home. We were shocked to come in to the office and find the bank across the street surrounded by crime tape and police cars.

When the first news van showed up, for FOX-KABB news in San Antonio, we shouted across the street and found out the bank had been robbed! Account Executive Stefani Glick (thats me!) was interviewed by the news channel for a reaction.

Texas Magazine Calls Texas Monthly on Premature Declaration of Presidential Election Winner

This just speaks for itself: Texas Monthly Magazine editor, Paul Burka, prematurely called Obama Presidential winner October 21, 2008. He might be part of the problem. Is that what Texas wants?

Why You Should Vote For John McCain

It's pretty simple and it won't take me 30 minutes to tell you why you should vote for John McCain.

Many many years ago I first read about John McCain in the pages of The National Review. I wasn't aware of his history as a P.O.W, and I read with fascination about his courage and strength. One sentence always remained with me. The author of the article said, "We don't make men like him anymore."

It's Not Looking Good for Texas Newspapers

According to Editor & Publisher, circulation of the the Houston Chronicle is down 11.66 percent. Tthe biggest percentage drop of any top 10 circulation newspaper in the country. Imagine if the Chronicle had competition. It is the only daily newspaper of Houston.

Why Have We Forgotten Galveston?

City officials are preparing to close a Red Cross tent shelter this weekend with more than 400 people still living there with no where else to go.

Open Border Blood

Fox News is reporting about that little boy that was kidnapped in Las Vegas:

LAS VEGAS — A relative of a boy allegedly kidnapped by men posing as police officers may have owned a Mexican drug cartel, FOX News has learned.

Police said the family of 6-year-old Cole Puffinburger was involved in the illegal drug trade.
