Boerne Bank Robbery
Crime hit close to home in the Hill Country this morning - very close to home. We were shocked to come in to the office and find the bank across the street surrounded by crime tape and police cars.
When the first news van showed up, for FOX-KABB news in San Antonio, we shouted across the street and found out the bank had been robbed! Account Executive Stefani Glick (thats me!) was interviewed by the news channel for a reaction.
After my short interview, the reporter was kind enough to fill me in on what happened: The robber was there when the first teller got in to open the bank at 7am. He handcuffed the teller, got her to open the safe, and got away with an undisclosed amount of money and and her car. The car was recovered a few blocks away, with a gun on the seat.
I really think it's interesting. Boerne is a very small town, and I've lived here all my life. I've never heard of anything like that happening before. Last week, a dead body was found near my parents house - right where I used to hang out by the Guadalupe river in High school.
Just goes to show you can't be lulled into thinking everything is perfectly safe in your small town. Small towns are growing, all throughout Texas. We are blessed to be located in a quiet, stable, generally safe town - but remember that this is 2008. There is still a risk out there. Lock your doors, make sure you know where your children are. It's a scary world, but you can protect yourself from it!!
